Collaborative, Compassionate & Unapologetic Storytelling

Hello! My name is Rebecca Lashmar and I am a certified intimacy director and coordinator, artistic mental health practitioner, writer and actor. I believe passionately in the nuanced power of human storytelling.

After graduating with my BFA from The University of Windsor in 2019, I received a graduate diploma in Arts Administration and Leadership from Queen’s University in 2020 to provide me with a solid understanding of consent forward, human-centred practices and voices on and off stages and screens. It is crucial to create art that challenges the audience’s (and our own) assumptions and understanding of what intimacy is and what that means for our art. I went on with my academic research to receive my MA from the University of Toronto’s Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies.

Achieving certification in 2024, my artistic practices of acting, writing, and intimacy direction and coordination, inform each other. I often use text analysis, acting exercises, and intimacy techniques to work with directors, actors, and production to build confidence in performances and environments to tell stories fearlessly.
